I know what you may be thinking.... "why is this a topic? Is there really a big difference between lotion and body cream?"
Well, this is a topic because there are big differences between body lotions and body creams, and you deserve to know what they are. Besides your skin knows the difference, so why shouldn't you?
I recorded a video a while ago to break the product characteristics down for everyone. Below are four easy ways to know the difference between body lotions and body creams.
1. Consistency
Lotion: Lotion has a very thin and smooth application. Its consistency allows it to come out of a pump bottle easily.
Cream: Cream has a heavier and thicker consistency and is more likely to be sold in a jar or squeeze bottle because it is too thick to come out of a pump bottle.
2. Water Content
Lotion: Has a higher percentage of water with only a few drops of oil. That is why it has a more runny consistency and is usually non-greasy.
Cream: Does not have as much water because it is RICH in oils. Creams are usually made of at least 50% oil, which makes them an excellent moisturizer for the skin.
3. Longevity
Lotion: Since lotion has more water in it, it will wear away easier, leaving the skin dry again faster.
Cream: Cream does not wear off as easy as a lotion because of its high oil content. It keeps dryness away much longer. It can also add a nice shine to your skin.
4. Advantages
Lotion: Lotions are typically non-greasy and great for skin that doesn’t get very dry. It will hydrate your skin but it typically gets absorbed faster.
Cream: Cremes are excellent for dry to very dry skin. The heavy oil content allows the skin to get the nourishment and moisture it needs for a longer period of time.
